It snowed this weekend! I know that’s not a huge irregularity for you Northwest folk, but for a Florida boy like me, it’s pretty unique. I went to Leavenworth this weekend and we got some serious snow up there. Thankfully we made it home alright, but for those of you who haven’t made the drive, it’s worth it. On the downside, the fitness room at the Sleeping Lady wasn’t quite up to snuff. Oh well. At least it gave me fodder for this week’s discussion.

It’s that moment on vacation, early in the morning right after you wake up, when you think to yourself, “Man, I really want to workout!” But what to do? There’s no CrossFit in the area, the fitness room has a mismatched assortment of dumbbells and a stupid lat-pulldown machine, and you left your wrist wraps at home. Is the answer not to workout? Never! The answer is to complete a travel WOD. Travel WOD’s are workouts catered toward the situations described above. They require little to no equipment and as long as you have six feet of space, you’re set! The easiest example that comes to mind is 100 Burpees for time. Does that workout suck? Absolutely. But does it work and do you feel accomplished for the rest of the day? You bet.

The better part? Travel WOD’s are easy to find! Simply type Travel WOD in google and you’ll instantly get a gazillion hits. Many of the top searches have great ideas, great ways to get a workout in while vacationing. I also have a slew of fun ideas up my sleeve if anybody asks 🙂 Don’t feel like working out? That’s alright. But make sure to do something, sometime, someway. You’ll be happy you did.
