I grew up in my family’s gymnastics school, Eastside Gymnastics, in Rochester, NY. Training, competing and then assistant coaching from age 6-17. I was 10 years old when the Karate Kid came out and was inspired to take an 8-week Karate class at our local rec-center. I loved it, but my parents told me I would have had to give up gymnastics or soccer (my other sport) to continue. It was a hard choice and a valuable life lesson for me on investing the limited resources of time and money. I put my Karate career on hold until I was a freshmen at Syracuse University and have been training and teaching Martial Arts ever since.

My CrossFit journey began in February of 2008, with Craig Cooper at NW CrossFit in Seattle, WA. In May of 2008 Craig left to open his own gym, Urban CrossFit and I followed him there. I had a son in October of 2009 and after a short break, returned to Urban CrossFit to resume training and prepare for my Level 1 certification in February 2010. In February 2010, I both completed my Level 1 certification.

My goal is for you to love taking class so much that it doesn’t feel like work.  I teach classes that are energetic, challenging, inspiring and most of all, fun.  If you leave the mat with a huge smile on your face I know I’ve done my job

I believe that health and wellness is one of the worthiest pursuits in life, but also the hardest. And I believe everyone deserves the chance and support to figure out what that looks like for them. That’s why I’m a coach. I desire to see people discovering fun, new, community building ways to improve their health through fitness. And I get to see this happening every time I teach class!

Memorial Day!

Jabletes!

Tomorrow, Memorial Day,  we honor those that have died serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.  Tomorrow we as a community will be performing Murph, in honor of Lt Michael Murphy.  We have been practicing for this, and not just with the weekly prep cycle we’ve done for the past month but with every WOD we come in and do each week.  We can do this.  Whether you are coming to do full Murph, a half Murph or a modified Murph lets get our awesome team together  tomorrow at 10:45am!  That is the only time we will be running class tomorrow.  IF you miss Murph tomorrow because you are out of town or you have to work,  I know a few athletes will be doing it Tuesday, everyone is welcome to at any of our regular class times!  Those of you who do Murph on Monday please don’t skip out no matter how sore you are on Tuesday.  You’ll need to move!  We have a day planned for mobility and recovery.

Please remember today to hydrate, take care of those calluses, eat well and sleep like a baby.   Seriously.  Do this and you’ll be prepping yourself for getting through this WOD tomorrow.

We cannot wait to see everyone tomorrow!  Don’t forget the Potluck to follow, bring something tasty to share and see you at 10:45am!
